Lot 113:
Choice October 20, 1777 Virginia $8 Handwritten Date
October 20, 1777 Act, Treasury of Virginia Colonial Currency, Handwritten Date, Eight Dollars, Choice Crisp Extremely Fine. Fr. VA-129. This boldly printed choice quality 1777 Revolutionary War note is vastly superior to most and has excellent centering. The “B. Dickson” and “Ja(mes) Wray” signatures and red serial number add to its overall pleasing eye appeal, with a perfectly clean blank reverse side. The rag period paper is crisp and extremely clean, lightly circulated at best with a piece of blue thread within the paper near bottom center as made. A most desirable note in this high quality that would be an excellent addition to any quality Colonial or Virginia Currency collection. Provenance Ex: Ford/Boyd Collection Sale, Part 17, March 21, 2007, lot 4434 (with its clipped Ford lot tag). |
