Lot 118:
March 1, 1781 Virginia $1,000 PMG Graded Very Fine-20
March 1, 1781, Virginia Colonial Currency, One Thousand Dollars of Three Hundred Pounds (the Highest Denomination), PMG graded Very Fine-20. Fr. VA-209a. Another testament to the inflationary pressures of using paper money during the Revolutionary War period. This evenly circulated Uniface note represents the highest denomination issued for this emission and is one of only a small handful of known examples. The blank reverse is clean and free of notations. The holder comments stained which is too harsh as the nthin paper note is evenly toned, not stained, as shown. |
