Popular Nine Cent “Feuchtwanger” Strip Encased Postage
Fr. EP-95a, 9¢, Strip of Three 3¢ Stamps, “FEUCHTWANGER” Encased Postage Stamp Collected, American Eagle Attacking a Snake with its Talons Design embossed on a Rectangular Copper Case, Extremely Fine. This is a pleasing example of this uniquely designed, later produced and issued “Feuchtwanger” Encased Postage. There are three 1863 issued 3¢ postage stamps that are are quite bold deep red and displayed under a rectangular piece of mica that remains whole, with some moderate light internal crazing. The glossy natural chestnut copper case is extremely sharp with perfectly clear details and has virtually no trace of actual wear.
