1876-Dated Centennial Massachusetts Volunteer Militia, Color Lithograph, Signed by the Boston Publisher, "Compliments of J.R. Farrell" at lower right, Original Frame, Very Fine.
The full title reads: "In Honor of the Mass. Vol. Militia and its Commanders and the One Hundredth Year of American Independence." Measuring 23.5” x 31.5” (by sight), overall framed to 30” x 38” housed in its apparent original frame. This 1876 Massachusetts Volunteer Militia Color Lithograph is Printed and published by J.R. Farrell and Publisher and is Signed in ink at lower right, "Compliments of J.R. Farrell". This active scene shows various soldiers and officers in their military uniforms along with some cavalry and cannon with the State House in the background. Strong vivid colors make this Lithograph particularly attractive. Likely housed in its original decorative oak frame under glass having some tone possibly from its original wood back. With a nice Seal of Massachusetts displayed at bottom center. (We note that “The Old Print Shop” offers a torn example with repaired tears and not framed for sale asking $2,500.)
