Large lot of European-American Related Political Documents and Correspondances, dated 1813 to 1905, many pertaining to and Signed by DIRK DONKER CURTIUS (1792-1864) a Dutch Lawyer and Governmental Minister who guided the country’s Constitutional Reforms of 1848, approximately 60 items, Not in English and Not Translated, Fine to Extremely Fine. Approximately 60 items, Not in English and Not Translated, spread across two separate holding binders. Primarily consisting of diplomatic communications and attendant forms. This lot also contains a number of official documents Signed by Donker Curtius, including personal letters, appointment confirmations and instructions to his staff. This lot additionally contains several electoral flyers and other materials from early 19th century Rhode Island local election campaigns, being mostly party tickets, labeled either Whig, Republican, National Republican or American Prox, with the names of the ticket’s candidates listed below. Lot sold “AS IS” no returns. (about 60 items) Provenance: Collection of Ambassador J. William Middendorf II. Dirk Donker Curtius (19 October 1792 - 17 July 1864) was a Dutch lawyer and minister who opposed the reign of Kings William I and William II. He was also the one who guided the Dutch Constitutional Reforms of 1848 through their parliament. |
