1725 Colonial to primarily Modern 20th Century era, extensive Archive containing items related to or signed by various Governors of Connecticut, containing about 120 items being various Manuscript, Partially-Printed Documents, Envelopes and Letters, ranging from Very Good to Extremely Fine. This extensive very diverse archive of items pertaining to the Governors of Connecticut ranges from the Colonial era all the way up to more modern Governorships. It is not complete, some better examples have previously been removed and there is much duplication, especially among the more modern era governors. The earliest document in this collection is from the governorship of Joseph Talcott dated 1725, being a colonial manuscript promoting an officer to the rank of Lieutenant. Just a fraction of the notable documents from this collection are 13 various printed “Proclamations” made by Wilbur L. Cross and Signed during his governorship announcing various state holidays, days of remembrance, and the repeal of prohibition. Other documents include ssome federal period manuscripts from John Treadwell, Roger Griswold, John Cotton Smith, and more. This collection contains much diverse material issued to or by governors of the State of Connecticut leading up to the more modern. Lot sold “AS IS” no returns.
