William Henry Harrison (1773-1841), 9th President of the United States, American Military Officer and Politician, First President to Die while in office, Harrison died on his 32nd day in office of complications from pneumonia, serving the shortest tenure in United States presidential history, in office March 4, 1841 to April 4, 1841, Memorial Silk Ribbon, Fine.
Rarely encountered Commemorative Memorial Black Printed White Silk Ribbon, no date or maker, with General Harrison’s printed parting words to his Soldiers serving under his command during the War of 1812. Handwritten in black ink outside of a ruled printed rectangular box, with text surrounding a famous Harrison “parting statement” to his Soldiers which reads, in full:

“This badge was worn by one of the Soldiers of 1812 on the funeral occasioned President Harrison 1841.” The statement printed in black on the white silk reads, in full: “Gentlemen : If you ever come to Vincennes, you will always find a plate and a knife and fork at my table, and I assure you that you will never find any door shut, and the string of the latch pushed in. - Harrison’s Parting Address to his Soldiers.”

Very rare measuring 8.25” long x 1.5” wide, several expertly repaired splits in the silk on the blank reverse with a few letters missing at center. A very historic, unique memorial souvenir.
