1643 to 1905 time-frame being an accumulation of about 30 widely varied items having not previously been picked out for prior sale, including a group of letters, printed ephemera, engravings, and a few photographs, grading from Poor to Very Fine. A substantial and widely varied selection of about 30 items of lesser historical material comprised of handwritten letters, political manuscripts, printed ephemera, engraved print illustrations, and some photography. Items date from the mid-18th century through the early 20th century. One notable example from this lot is a CDV of Colonel John S. Slocum who was apart of the 2nd Rhode Island Infantry and was killed at 1st Bull Run, along with a Camp Burnside “Officer of the Guard” camp pass with Colonel Slocum’s signature. This collection includes original correspondence and manuscripts alongside printed a visual materials, illustrating the evolution of communication, political expression, and graphic culture over more than two centuries.
