Lot 230:
Balance of Collection Lot of Misc. Shares, Land Grants and other Banking Related Documents and Popular Sheet Music and Federal Era Related Engravings Approximately 50 Items
Extensive mixed lot of about 50 items of minor historical, financial and cultural ephemera, including some mining stocks, land grants, and various later banking-related documents, plus misc. sheet music and engravings, mostly Fine to Very Fine. This varied and historically interesting group of about 50 documents consists primarily of mining share certificates from a range of different companies, accompanied by bonds, land grants, and other banking and financial instruments. The mining shares form the core and represent numerous companies, reflecting the speculative and developmental character of the mining industry in the 19th and early 20th centuries. In addition to the financial material, the lot includes several pieces of historical ephemera including period 18th century sheet music and a small group of engravings mostly from magazines. Condition varies widely is as typical for groups of this nature, with expected folds, edge wear, misc. defects, and handling marks. An appealing lot for collectors of mining stock certificates, financial history, or American historical ephemera. Lot sold “AS IS” no returns. (about 50 items) Provenance: Collection of Ambassador J. William Middendorf II. |
