This is the Large Date variety mentioned in Julian’s catalog of U.S. Mint Medals. One tiny hole in the center rim at 3:00 likely made for mounting in a prior display. Julian states the large date medal was struck from the original dies during 1855-1870. This beautiful medal appears Choice Mint State with lovely natural medium brown smooth surfaces and highpoints.
