Colonial Era Adjustable Wood Two Candle Lighting Stand
18th to early 19th Century, Handcrafted adjustable 31 inch tall wooden two candle Lighting Stand with tin candle holders, the central shaft turned for adjustment, standing on a wood base supported with four legs, Complete, Very Fine. Totaling about 31” tall, the bottom legs measure about 7” tall which are then held by a 2” thick base, having a 22.75” turned central spine allows the 12” long x 2.75” wide wooden candle mounting to rotate along the shaft so as to be raised or lowered as desired. This fine example has actual light wear from use. The two tin candle holders may be original or later added, using handmade square nails with rounded heads. This is a very attractive complete example of period craftsmanship that has pleasing eye appeal and would be excellent for display. |
