January 14th, 1779 Continental Currency, Eighty Dollars, Highest Issued Denomination, Motto on the Face of a Large Tree and legend (And it will flourish for ages and ages) designed by Francis Hopkinson, PMG graded Very Fine-30. This red and black printed Revolutionary War issued note is boldly printed having four large margins on both sides. Signers are Jedediah Snowden & William Gamble written in red and brown ink. This $80 is the only denomination with a “Nature Print” of a Strawberry Leaf. Sharpness and appearance of Extremely Fine having no negative comment. |
