Extremely Rare February 16, 1771 New York Three Pounds Contemporary Counterfeit, Ex: Ford, PMG Choice VF-35

February 16, 1771 New York Colonial Currency, Three Pounds, Contemporary Period Counterfeit, Ex: Ford, PMG graded Choice VF-35.
Fr. NY-165CFT. One of the finest quality sharply printed Contemporary Period Counterfeit 3 Pound notes a serious collector can acquire. This Uniface note has two peron’s names of the blank reverse, a standard proceedure at the time to help track counterfeit notes’ prior owners. The holder states repaired which appears to be for a small expert repair to the right outer edge margin. Overall, this note is boldly printed on correct thin white laid paper. The false signatures of Theophylact Bache, Samuel Verplank and A. Lott are very prominent written in red and brown ink. Overall, this note is lightly circulated and has superior eye appeal expsecially for a rare Contemporary Period Counterfeit. Provenance Ex: Ford auction, March 2007 part of lot 4173.
