Exceptional April 23rd, 1761 North Carolina 15 Shillings of Four Consecutive Notes Cut From Sheet Serial No. 1000
April 23rd, 1761, North Carolina Colonial Currency, Fifteen Shillings, Gem Crisp Uncirculated. Fr. NC-123. Serial No. 1000. This note from an original sheet where the three lower denomination notes all have the same serial number 1000 and the 20 Shillings note is numbered 2000. Each of these four are noted in rich brown ink on their blank backs, “From Mrs Mitchell and Mr Charoros to Jno Cade - from Jno. Cade to JS Adams” in a special presentation. Four full crisp margins provide excellent centering to this boldly printed typset note. Fully signed; John Swann, Samuel Swann, John Starkey and Lewis De Rosset in rich brown ink. Rare in such high quality. Friedberg values this note only up to EF and the 2008 5th edition of Newman values it to Fine at $400 in Very Fine. This note has superb eye appeal. |
