Rated as Rarity-5 (21 to 30 known) according to Fred Reed. A lovely quality example of this singular Encased Postage Stamp Merchant from Canada, outside of the borders of the United States in Montreal, Canada. The 1861 US Postage issue stamp is a very rich bold green in color and is very well centered. The mica is clear and unbroken with some slight scattered natural laminations having some tan discoloration within the mica layers, not discoloration on the stamp, with overall signs of use in circulation. The case remains a natural light even chestnut in color with the reverse legends very clear. An elusive and only Canadian Encased Postage Stamp Advertising Merchant lacking in most collections.
