76 mm. It is known that all 90 Silver large size, and 90 Silver small size medals were struck in December 1865 and January 1866. Anthony Paquet prepared the deeply engraved dies for this issue which he turned over to the U.S. Philadelphia Mint in late October 1865. This Unlisted “Bronze” Metal specimen of that Indian Peace Medal is boldly struck in sharp relief, having a very beautiful appearance. This important medal has a virtually perfectly struck obverse with natural even medium-brown surfaces. The reverse has a few trivial contact marks on its semi-prooflike smooth surfaces. (NGC seems to have undergraded this medal in our opinion.) There is significant underlying luster providing choice eye appeal.
