Lot 60:
April 23rd, 1761 North Carolina Five Shillings Note Ch. CU

April 23rd, 1761, North Carolina Colonial Currency, Five Shillings, Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
Fr. NC-121. Four full crisp margins provide excellent centering to this boldly printed typeset note. Fully signed by John Swann, Samuel Swann, John Starkey and Lewis De Rosset in rich brown ink. Noted on its blank reverse, “From Mrs Mitchell and Mr Charoros to Jno Cade - from Jno. Cade to J S Adams”. A sealed wormhole that affects this 5s note hardly visible only on the reverse. Friedberg only lists values for note up to EF. The 2008 5th edition of Newman values it to Fine at $400 with only a “dash” in Very Fine, this note is Choice Crisp Uncirculated.
