Lot 152:
Early 19th Century Copper Tripod Dovetailed Teapot

c. 1800 Antique Copper Teapot with Hand-wrought riveted Iron Tripod Legs and Handle, with brass-brazened dovetail seams around the body and base and a gooseneck functional flap covered spout, expected age patina on the legs and in the copper’s recesses, Very Fine.
This wonderful Hand-wrought 3-legged Copper Teapot measures about 11” tall x 8.5” wide x 12” long with its handle. It is an exquisite piece, full of vintage charm and sophistication with nice eye appeal for display. It is made in the “Dovetailed” fashion, its copper pieces joined together with cramped seams of brazened brass. This was the primary method of manufacturing non-shaped copper pots and other cookware until the advent of straight welding in the early 20th century. Its iron legs and handle are attached with copper rivets, as is the coiled finial on top of the removable copper lid. The iron handle is made to accept a longer round wooden handle to avoid touching the heated metal. Nice and solid enough to become a period museum specimen.
